Heavy Rain Displaces Several Residents In Ogun As Assemblyman, Hon Samusideen Seeks Govt Support

The Member representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle (Lawee), has paid a sympathy visit to Iwopin Kingdom following the devastating storm that recently wreaked havoc across the community, destroying homes, schools, and other public and private properties.

During the assessment tour, Hon. Lawee personally visited over 50 affected buildings to evaluate the extent of the damage and interact with victims. Among the public institutions affected were St. Kizito’s High School, Iwopin, Local Government Primary School I & II, St. Peter’s Anglican School, and several other facilities within the community.

Addressing residents, Hon. Lawee expressed his heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the disaster and thanked Almighty God that no lives were lost despite the magnitude of the destruction. He assured the people that he would immediately escalate the situation to the appropriate authorities, particularly the Ogun State Ministry of Education and the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), with the expectation of securing prompt intervention before the end of the week or early in the new week.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the lawmaker to carry out oversight functions at some public institutions, including schools and the police station. Following his assessment, Hon. Lawee pledged support towards improving facilities in the affected institutions through the provision of toilets, boreholes, pumping machines, and generators where necessary.

In a further demonstration of his commitment to improving education within the constituency, Hon. Lawee announced a monthly stipend of ₦10,000 each for ten PTA teachers drawn from three primary schools, as a supplementary support to their existing earnings.

He urged residents to remain calm, united, and hopeful, assuring them that every effort would be made to attract the necessary support and interventions to restore normalcy to the community.
