30 Years After, Class ’92 Gives Back To Muslim High Sch Ago-Iwoye
The 30th anniversary of Class ’92 of Muslim High School, Ago Iwoye may have come and gone but the reunion party which was celebrated on Saturday 18th June 2022 in the school hall left so much to talk about.
As part of their efforts towards education advancement and developmental support for their Alma Mata six (6) white marker board with accessories were presented to the school to improve teaching and learning experience in the school.
Another high point of the reunion celebration was presentation of Lifetime Impactful Recognition Award to seven (7) of their old teachers among who are Pa T T Otusanya, Alhaji Fasaasi Oladunjoye, Imam Oloruntoyin Ashiru, Hon Gbenga Nuberu, Mr Sefiu Adenusi, Revd Adebola Olunowo and Prof Sefiu Oladunjoye. Mr. Sefiu Bakare (Agba City) and Mrs. Ajila Oluwatoyin who were non teaching staff during their stay in the school were presented with Distinguished Service Award.
Welcoming guests to the reunion, the Class ’92 Chairman Mr. Ayo Awobona went down memory lane in recanting how the school had prepared them for what they have all become in their various endeavours and how the discipline the school had instilled in them had stayed with them till date.
He used the opportunity to thank all their teachers for their indefatigable efforts on them while welcoming everyone to their reunion celebration. Corroborating the class chairman, the organizing committee chairman Mr. Kehinde Osunneye thank all members of the set for making the event come to fruition, he also charged the school to put the ease of learning materials donated to good use.
The chairman of the occasion, Hon. J. F Adegbesan advised the entire Class ’92 to keep up the good work they’ve started, he noted that it is always good to give back to our old schools and thank Class ’92 for not forgetting where they started from.
In her keynote address, the National President of Muslim High School, Ago Iwoye Old Student Association Mrs. Morenikeji Olaiwole (FCA) noted the importance of the reunion to the National Association as it helps in delivering part of the mandate of the national association of giving back to their old school. She thanked Class ’92 for their ingenuity and urged everyone that had passed through the school to emulate this set in action and indeed by regrouping across sets, by that the school will feel the full presence of the old students.
The principal of the junior school Pastor Oshodipe was full of appreciation in receiving the ease of learning materials donated to the school, he profusely thank the entire Class ’92 for their kind gesture to the school and like Oliver Twist, he extended call to the national association to still come to the aid of the school in numerous ways they are lacking, he urged them to kindly complement government efforts.
While commenting, Alhaji Fasasi Oladunjoye one of the award recipient a retired school principal himself noted the moral decadence that had pervaded the polity can still be stemmed, he urged the national old student to add present students of the school in their programs by adding periodic pep talk to the students to their itinery for the school which he believe will change their mindset in facing their education squarely seeing them excel in their various professions.
Responding on behalf of recipient, Prof Sefiu Oladunjoye, appreciate Class ’92 for their thoughtfulness towards them, he also urged the national association to consider human capital development in their program for the school which he believes will change the mindset of the students towards education.
