Ogun Top Unionist Ibrahim Otuyiga Writes Gov Abiodun On Ijebu Waterside Neglect

Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR,
Ogun State Governor.

Dear Sir,

OGUN WATERSIDE DESERVES THE BEST IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS —
SAVE OUR SOUL DEAR INDEFATIGABLE GOVERNOR

With utmost sense of humility and obeisance, I hereby write this open letter to our dear amiable, competent, diplomatic and indefatigable governor of Ogun
State to register the concerns of the youths and the general populace of Ogun
Waterside.

May I first use this opportunity to condole with our governor, Prince
Dr. Dapo Abiodun on the recent transition to eternal glory of his dad, our dad Dr
Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun, may God rest grandpa’s soul and grant the entire
family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Excellency sir, I write as a patriotic indigene of Ilusin, Ogun
Waterside, and on behalf of the Youth Group named Youth Empowering Positive Change to humbly register our displeasure on the
high level of neglect of the local government in terms of basic amenities,
representations in governance at the state.

The underlisted among others are our
concerns for immediate attention. We are aware that our governor believes and practices the
ideology of Equity & Justice; this should be extended to Ogun Waterside area.

OUR ROADS: All connecting roads in the community and the ones linking the
neighboring communities are in a poor state. It will be recalled that we were
promised during the Local Government campaign that you have asked our leaders to bring forward the names of some identified damaged roads for
approval for repairs/constructions. We appeal to the state government for a
timely approval while we look forward to seeing contractors on site.

OUR GENERAL HOSPITAL AND OTHER HEALTH CENTRES: Recently, we are aware
of the steps taken by the State Government in commencing a full-scale
rehabilitation of the General Hospital Ibiade for efficient health care delivery to
the people. We will like to commend the State Government for this approval and
also demand for more interventions like equipping the hospital and other health
centres. Staffing and Laboratory services are very key to rendering proper medical services. Patients travel to as far
as Ijebu-Ode or neighbouring towns in Ondo State for laboratory tests and X-rays.

SECURITY: In all fairness, Ogun Waterside is believed to be second to none
relating to security of lives and properties. All thanks to our outstanding and
efficient Obas, the Local Government Council, Security Agencies and other local
government stakeholders for taking up the task collectively and ensuring
everywhere is peaceful at all time. However, we will like to seek for the assistance
of the state government to provide patrol vehicles for our security outfits for
effective monitoring and surveillance.

REPRESENTATIONS IN GOVERNANCE AT THE STATE: It’s quite unfortunate that
Ogun Waterside is most likely if not the only local government without
representation at the State Executive Council.Unlike other local
governments who not only have commissioner(s) but lots of other appointments
such as Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Special Assistants (SA), Special Advisers and Consultants. Ogun Waterside is the only local government who is not considered
in any of the above positions. Your Excellency sir, we appreciate your love and
inclusion of youths in this government but should we now say we do not have
capable hands and most importantly youths to be considered for this positions in
Ogun Waterside? No sir, we do have progressive minded youths who are willing
to serve if given the opportunity . We have lots of eminently qualified individuals
among the youth constituency and forum like Ogun Waterside Forum who are
doing so well in all spheres of life and professions outside the state and Nigeria.
We want to believe that our people will get more dividends of democracy if well represented.

HIGHER INSTITUTION OF LEARNING: Your Excellency sir, one of the basic factors
which enhances the growth of a community is the availability of a full-fledged Tertiary institution or a Satellite campus .Ogun
Waterside is known for Agriculture and unarguably the food-basket of Ogun State. Therefore, it won’t be out of place if we can have at least two to three faculties
(Agriculture,Water Resources, Forestry) relocated to Ogun Waterside for a start in
order to further attract investors to the local government and enhance speedy
development in terms of infrastructure.

OUR NATURAL RESOURCES: Olokola Deep Sea Port, Iwopin Paper Mill, Bitumen, Rubber and Oil Palm plantations among others are resources and projects which can boost the economy of Ogun
Waterside and Ogun State but are lieing fallow. It is quite understandable that it’s not a day job but we will like to appeal to the State Government to kick-start some of these abandoned projects sir.

Your Excellency sir, at this juncture it is pertinent to
note that the people of Ogun Waterside has waited so long and suffered from
negligence, sidelines from the past governments and our only hope is that the
governor of our time who has been doing excellently well will in no distant time
change the narratives as we await your favorable considerations and
implementations.
