Egbe Jagunmolu Okunrin (Fehintade) Akile Ijebu clocks 20, plans one-week celebration

A topmost age-group (Regberegbe) in Ijebuland, Egbe Jagunmolu Okunrin (Fehintade) Akile Ijebu, has concluded plans to celebrate its 20 years in grand style.

The group was recognised and integrated into the comity of age-groups by the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, on February 18, 2001.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer and the chairman, Publicity and Media Committee of the anniversary, Olukayode Badejo,

Egbe Jagunmolu Okunrin (Fehintade) Akile Ijebu, under the leadership of its Giwa, Oba Adewale Abdul, the Olofin Ajaye of Orugbo Iddo, had been involved in the developmental strides of Ijebuland and executed various humanitarian, corporate and social services.

Some of the social intervention programmes according to the statement include renovation of some dilapidated school buildings and award of scholarship to indigent students; reconstruction of health centres.

The age-group also carried out Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activities in various towns of Ijebuland, distribution of palliatives to several communities during the height of COVID-19 pandemic and rehabilitation of buildings within The School for the Children with Special Needs among others.

The statement, however, stated that to commemorate 20 years of robust relationship, peaceful co-existence and more importantly, selfless service to humanity, the age-group had put together a one-week event in order to have a fun-filled celebration.

The events as highlighted in the statement are as follows:

Friday, 16th July – handover of the refurbished buildings in the School for Children with Special Needs, Ijebu- Ode, to be witnessed by the representatives of the Awujale, Ogun State government, patrons and members of the age-group, starring from 12p.m. This will be followed by a special Juma’at Service at the Ijebu Ode Central Mosque.
