Man caught with fresh human head in Ogun

A 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, has been arrested for alleged unlawful possession of human parts and suspected ritual activities in Igbesa, Ogun State.

It was gathered that Ashafa was arrested by the operatives of Ogun State Police Command on Friday.

In a statement the Police Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspect was arrested during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

According to him, the suspect was intercepted in possession of a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains concealed in a nylon bag.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes.

“The implement used in committing the act was recovered, while the scene was visited and documented,” he said.

The Police Publicist said “The arrest was made in the early hours of April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi, where the suspect was intercepted in possession of a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains concealed in a nylon bag.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes. The implement used in committing the act was recovered, while the scene was visited and documented.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”

Babaseyi assured the public of the command’s “unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements”, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
