Man Arrested For Killing Okada Rider In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist, otherwise known as Okada rider, in Igbesa, Ogun State.

The suspect attacked the victim at about 7:00 a.m.on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Spokesperson for the Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the suspect boarded a motorcycle operated by the 36-year-old victim, Sunday Ogbu, and attacked him with a knife in an attempt to seize the motorcycle, resulting in a violent struggle.

He said that a witness at the scene raised the alarm, prompting the police to rush to the scene and arrest the suspect.

Babaseyi said that the victim was later rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

He said that the exhibits recovered from the suspect included the knife he used to attack the victim and his motorcycle.

Babaseyi said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured members of the public that justice would be served.

He urged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.

The CP also charged the public to report suspicious activities or security problems through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines.
