Aletheia University Admits 264 Students, Advances Sustainability Initiative

Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has admitted 264 students across its colleges at its third matriculation ceremony, underscoring its growing academic footprint and emphasis on science-driven programmes.

 

The admissions cut across 41 students in Arts, Management and Social Sciences, six in Engineering, 40 in Science and Information Technology, 131 in Medical and Allied Health Sciences, and 46 in Law. The distribution reflects the institution’s increasing focus on health and science-based disciplines.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, charged the students to uphold discipline, integrity and academic excellence, noting that the university remains committed to providing a conducive learning environment supported by quality infrastructure and a strong academic framework.

The Chancellor, Major General Sansadeen Adebanjo Awosanya, urged the newly admitted students to see their admission as both a privilege and a responsibility. He noted that “true education must produce not only sound minds but responsible citizens who are conscious of their role in building a sustainable future,” charging them to pursue excellence while contributing meaningfully to society.

 

The Pro-Chancellor, Dr Onikepo Akande, commended the institution’s steady growth and described it as a forward-looking university committed to quality education. She urged the students to remain focused and take full advantage of the opportunities available to them.

 

The event was attended by the Chancellor’s wife, Alhaja Funmilola Omowunmi Awosanya, alongside members of the Board of Trustees, including Mrs Adeola Simon, Prof. Saburi Adesanya, Mr Biodun Awosanya, and Mr Kola Abdul.

 

Also present was the Ogun State Coordinator and Deputy Director of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Hakeem AbdulHameed.

 

As part of activities marking the ceremony, the university inaugurated a tree planting exercise to promote environmental sustainability, with the Chancellor formally flagging off the initiative. Members of the Board of Trustees and management participated in the exercise.

 

The initiative, according to the university, forms part of its broader commitment to responsible institutional development and environmental stewardship.
