UNAAB Commends EFCC On Recovery of N27m Held By Estate Agents

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, has expressed appreciation to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for assisting to recover a sum of N27,000,000( Twenty Seven Million Naira) belonging to the University.
In a letter addressed to the Executive Chairman, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Kehinde applauded the Commission “for its professionalism, resilience, and commitment in the successful recovery of the money.
The recovered funds were paid in 2011 by the University as a property arrangement intended for the establishment of the University’s Abuja Liaison Office and Guest House . Rather than achieve the purpose, several administrative and legal processes stood in the way, making it impossible to get the buildings on ground.
Pressed to the wall and with no solution in sight, the University approached the EFCC to assist it in recovering the funds. The Commission dug into the matter for two years and eventually succeeded in recovering the funds for the University. The funds were also remitted to the University in April, 2026.
Kehinde stated that “ the University deeply appreciates the Commission’s huge efforts in ensuring justice and accountability in the matter. The successful recovery is not only a significant institutional achievement for UNAAB, but also part of the EFCC’s commendable success story in safeguarding public resources and strengthening public confidence in the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
The Commission not only recovered and remitted the funds to the University but has also charged the suspects to court. Kehinde concluded his appreciation of the EFCC’s efforts by stressing that “your intervention has further reinforced our confidence in the integrity and effectiveness of the Commission” .
