A prominent muslim cleric in Ogun state, the Chief Imam of Atiba community in Ijebuland, Alhaji Mushafau Bakre has been found dead, Gateway Times Nigeria can reliably inform.
The newsmagazine impeccably gathered that the cleric said to be in his 60s was reportedly kidnapped few days back on his way to an outing within Ijebu Ode.
Relentless efforts by his children, and Muslim faithful in the town was said to have been futile, as his mobile lines kept on ringing for almost 24 hours.
Further information has it that the case was later reported to the police in Ijebu Ode only for his lifeless body to be found around Ikangba area in Odogbolu local government area of the state late yesterday.
The Muslim community has since been thrown into mourning mood since the news of the Chief Imam’s murder hit town.
Though, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi has yet to respond to a text message sent to his mobile lines on the issue, however, a reliable police source in Ijebu Ode confirmed the murder of the cleric to Gateway Times Nigeria early this morning.
The police source disclosed that the Chief Imam, was kidnapped alongside his newly acquired vehicle, and was also later to be found lifeless in the same vehicle.
