Bamgbose’s Suspension As Ogun PDP Chairman In Order, Court Rules

The Federal High Court, Abuja, this Tuesday morning affirmed the suspension of Samson Bamgbose (a.k.a Imisi) as the Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

It also entered as the judgment of the court the terms of settlement executed by Barrister Taiwo Kabir Shote (a.k.a Pepe) on behalf of the Kashamu political family.

The trial judge, the Honourable Justice M. O. Olajuwon, had earlier dismissed the notice of change of counsel filed by the Bamgbose-Segun Seriki group.

With this court judgment, the terms of settlement brokered by the Dr. Bukola Saraki-led National Reconciliation and Strategy Committee of the party and executed on the 18th of March, 2021, by Shote on behalf of the Kashamu political family has become the judgment of the court with respect to the Ogun State PDP.

When the matter came up yesterday (Monday),
Olusegun Jolaawo (SAN) announced appearance for Bamgbose and Charles Ndukwe for the Ogun State PDP Executive.

One other counsel announced appearance for Mr. Leke Shittu but the court refused to countenance his appeareance.

After hearing counsel for the Ogun State PDP Executive, Charles Ndukwe on facts leading to the split representation for the Ogun State PDP Executive and Jolaawo (SAN) directed that it would like to resolve the issue of change of counsel before further proceedings.

The various counsel took turns to address the court on the notice for change of counsel.

Ndukwe moved the motion for court to nullify and strike out the Notice of Counsel filed by Bamgbose, relying on Ogun State PDP Exco’s affidavit and exhibits attached thereto.

Jolaawo (SAN) responded and relied on Bamgbose and others’ counter affidavit/written address.

Reacting to the court judgment, Shote said, “The court judgment is victory for the rule of law, participatory and progressive democracy. I give all glory to the Almighty God for this resounding victory. It is just a few days to the first anniversary of the passage into eternal glory of our father, leader and mentor, the late Senator Buruji Kashamu. There can possibly be no better way to keep his memory alive than this huge political and judicial victory coming at this time. Congratulations to all members of the Kashamu political family and all members of the Ogun State PDP. Forward ever, backward never.”
