LETTER OF INTENT TO THRONE OF AWUJALE

Prince Adebowale Emmanuel Ogunwo
14th July, 2025

To:
The Olori Ebi and Esteemed Members
Funsenguwa Ruling House
Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State

Your Royal Highness and Esteemed Elders,

Letter of Intent to the Vacant Stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland

With profound respect and a deep sense of duty, I, Prince Adebowale Emmanuel Ogunwo, hereby submit this letter to formally express my intent and readiness to serve as the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

My royal lineage traces directly to the Jadiara branch of the Funsenguwa Ruling House. My great-grandfather was one of the sons of Omooba Adeajo, who himself was a son of Oba Jadiara, a revered monarch in the distinguished lineage of Awujales. This noble heritage inspires in me a lifelong sense of responsibility, devotion, and service to the Ijebu people.

Royal Heritage and Professional Calling

I am a Geoscientist and Energy Industry Leader with extensive experience in oil and gas exploration and development, production, and infrastructure investment across Africa, Europe, and beyond. Over the past 17 years, I have worked with reputable oil and gas companies, successfully drilled oil and gas wells, and advised leading local and international energy organizations, developing strategic frameworks that have attracted investments in energy and infrastructure.

My professional background and global networks uniquely position me to mobilize large-scale investments for the holistic development of Ijebuland, from harnessing our bitumen potential, promoting industrialization and job creation, to empowering youth through education and technology innovation.

Vision for Ijebuland

As Awujale, my vision is to build on the legacy of our forebears by promoting peace, unity, and prosperity across all Ijebu communities. I intend to:

  • Strengthen the cultural and traditional (all our Ise) institutions that define our identity.
  • Promote the development of Ijebu industries and trades, to ensure sustainable livelihoods.
  • Adopt partnerships between the Ijebu nation and local as well as international investors.
  • Champion education, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment as catalysts for progress.
  • Uphold the dignity, values, and influence of the Ijebu throne in Nigeria and the diaspora.

Commitment to Service

I approach this noble aspiration with humility, guided by the conviction that leadership is service. I am committed to working with the Council of Otunbas, Chiefs, the Regberegbe (age grades), and all Ijebu sons and daughters to usher in a new era of unity, development, and global recognition for our great kingdom.

It is therefore with great honour and reverence that I seek the blessing and support of the Olori Ebi and esteemed elders of the Funsenguwa Ruling House to represent our lineage in the sacred succession to the throne of our ancestors.

May the Almighty and the spirits of our forefathers continue to guide and bless Ijebuland.

With the highest respect and loyal regards,

Prince Adebowale Emmanuel Ogunwo
