Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo, has described the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the APC’s 2027 consensus governorship candidate as a strategic and unifying step to consolidate progress and sustain development in the state.
Owotomo, who also served as the Secretary of the re-election campaign of Governor Dapo Abiodun noted that the decision reflects strong party cohesion and a clear commitment to continuity. He emphasized that Ogun State citizens are the direct beneficiaries of this succession plan, as it paves the way for a seamless transition to a government that will sustain the qualitative, purpose-driven ISEYA agenda of the current administration —particularly in accelerating agro-industrialization and economic growth.
He highlighted the historic significance of Adeola’s candidacy, which positions Ogun West to produce the state’s next governor for the first time, advancing inclusiveness and equity across senatorial districts.
The Commissioner commended Governor Abiodun’s decisive and unifying leadership in managing a rancor-free succession process, describing him as a “record-breaking democrat” who has strengthened internal harmony while transforming potential rivalry into continuity.
Owotomo also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast leadership and commitment to deepening democratic values and party unity nationwide, noting that his guidance continues to reinforce progressive governance.
He concluded that the consensus candidacy reflects the collective will of stakeholders, strengthens confidence in the APC, and marks a defining moment in Ogun State’s political transition ahead of 2027.
