Six Fake Pastors Arrested In Ondo For Alleged Miracle Scam

Police in Ondo State have arrested six suspected fake pastors involved in an alleged miracle scam targeting unsuspecting members of the public in Idanre.

The suspects—Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola—allegedly posed as religious leaders, staging fake miracles and spiritual interventions to gain the trust of their victims.

They are accused of exploiting individuals’ faith and vulnerabilities by promising divine solutions to financial, health, and personal problems, only to defraud them through various schemes.

Police spokesperson DSP Jimoh Abayomi said the arrests followed a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation by the Command’s Tactical Teams in collaboration with Community Safety Officers (CSOs).

Abayomi explained, “During interrogation, it was gathered that the suspects operated in a coordinated manner, assigning specific roles to create a convincing façade of legitimacy. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the total number of victims, the financial magnitude of the fraud, and identify other collaborators who may still be at large.”

He added that all suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police urged members of the public to exercise caution, verify religious claims, be wary of suspicious financial demands, and report dubious activities to the nearest police station.

Abayomi stressed that the Command remains committed to ridding Ondo State of criminal elements, saying, “Through sustained intelligence gathering, community partnership, and strategic operations, we will continue to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property across the state.”
