We’ll Use Festivals To Promote Yoruba Cultural Identity -Wale Adedayo

The chairman of Ijebu East LG Area of Ogun State, Hon Wale Adedayo has reassured his administration’s commitments towards promoting culture and tourism in the local government area.

Adedayo dropped the hints on Friday while hosting traditional worshippers and promoters of culture at the local government secretariat to celebrate the maiden edition of annual Isese Day celebration in Ijebu East.

Isese Day is an international day set aside for the traditional worshippers worldwide to celebrate their belief, as christians and muslim faithfuls also celebrate both christmas and eid-el-kabir respectively.

The event was declared opened by a service conducted by “Ijo Orunmila” an extraction of traditional worshipping from the local government area, after which traditional dancers of various festivals such as egungun, jigbo, okoro, epa etc came on board for display and entertainment as well.

The chairman noted that our cultural heritage should not be eroded due to western education or religious beliefs.

Hon Adedayo who put on a crested vest with inscription “Esu is not satan”, in his sermon towards this controversial belief from some quarters that Satan is “Esu” in yoruba dialect, enlightened the audience that such affirmation or belief is false, null and void, and it was just a calculated attempt by the Europeans who brought the western education into Nigeria to brainwash the Africans in general.

He expressed his displeasure over the current status of Ogbere town the headquarters of Ijebu East LG Area of Ogun State, speaking further on his readiness to upgrade the status of Ogbere township in terms of infrastructural development, noting that the present status is nothing to write home about.

The council boss for the umpteenth time reassured that he would continue to carry out all his electioneering promises such as the annual “Isese Day” celebration through out his tenure of office and support towards promoting and tapping from potentials in culture and tourism for overall development of Ijebu East local government area.
