History was made on Saturday, October 24, as notable veteran comrades and youths under the aegis of the Ogun Waterside Progressive Youth Caucus gathered to promote youth empowerment and highlight the area’s emerging development opportunities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Joining the advocacy was the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Youths and Sports, Comrade Olamide Lawal , whose participation added further significance to the youth-driven call for development, continuity and active civic engagement.
The gathering highlighted major legacy projects and investment prospects, including Eba oil exploration, Ogun Deep Seaport, Dangote Deep Sea Port, Ogun LNG, the Blue Marine Economy and a proposed naval base. According to the organisers, these initiatives could transform Ogun Waterside into a major business hub, creating jobs, attracting investments and improving livelihoods if successfully implemented.
The group argued that, since these projects were initiated under APC administrations, sustaining and nurturing them to fruition would be easier under the same political platform. This conviction forms the basis of its “Five Direct” advocacy, urging residents to vote for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The Caucus called on citizens to look beyond tribal divisions, personal sentiments and political differences, while emphasising continuity, accountability and the long-term development interests of Ogun Waterside.
A major highlight of the programme was the empowerment of 100 less-privileged youths with ₦20,000 each, totalling ₦2 million.
The event underscored the growing role of youth participation in political discourse and the organisers’ determination to connect electoral choices with the area’s development aspirations.
For the Ogun Waterside Progressive Youth Caucus, “Five Direct” represents a call for continuity in order to nurture ongoing development initiatives into tangible economic opportunities for the people of Ogun Waterside.
