Ogun 2027: Yayi Progressives Movement Set For Grand Inauguration, Backs Adeola’s Governorship Bid

A new political force, the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has announced its official inauguration as part of efforts to mobilise widespread grassroots support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the forthcoming inauguration—scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026—as a major turning point in the state’s political landscape.

According to Kaka, the event represents more than a ceremonial gathering, but a strategic convergence of progressive stakeholders, youth groups, and political actors determined to influence the future of Ogun State. He noted that the movement, under the leadership of its convener, Armstrong “Temitope” Akintunde, has been carefully structured to drive coordinated grassroots mobilisation across the state.

Kaka emphasised that the YPM is not a peripheral player but a disciplined and result-oriented political force with significant reach and organisational depth capable of shaping electoral outcomes.

The group reaffirmed its alignment with the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his economic reforms aimed at stabilising the nation and fostering long-term growth. It also praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his infrastructural strides and policies that have strengthened the state’s economic standing.

The coordinator further acknowledged the contributions of elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and other party leaders for sustaining progressive ideals within the APC.

Highlighting activities lined up for the inauguration, Kaka disclosed that campaign buses would be commissioned to enhance outreach efforts, while loyal members of the movement would be recognised and empowered. Patrons and matrons are also expected to be formally decorated.

He concluded with a note of confidence, stating that the people of Ogun State are fully mobilised, expressing optimism that victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections is inevitable.
