Bandits Kill 1, Abduct 20 In Zamfara

Bandits on Thursday attacked traders in Adafka, Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one person and abducting at least 20 others.

The attack occurred when armed men blocked the road and intercepted traders travelling from Adafka village to the Gurusu market, while others were heading towards Gusau, the state capital.

A resident of Adafka village, Malam Aminu Shehu, said the assailants suddenly blocked the road, opened fire and seized several commuters.

“The bandits killed one person and abducted an unspecified number of people, but those taken are more than 20. We are still compiling the list of the victims,” Shehu said.
He added that the response from security agencies was limited. According to him, security personnel later arrived at the scene and assisted the community in evacuating the corpse of the victim for burial.

“They only came to help us carry the dead body for burial. They have not told us anything about the fate of those abducted,” he added.
