Senator Adeola, who is the present lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The group, in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Luqman Akanbi Alagbe, urged Senator Adeola to facilitate the quick completion of the Ibese-Ilaro road project.

“I am writing on behalf of the concerned residents and road users of Ogun West to bring to your attention the critical state of the Ibese-Ilaro Road. It has come to our knowledge that this road was under construction under your oversight, and while we deeply appreciate your efforts to initiate the project, certain sections of the road remain unfinished.

“Although we acknowledge and commend the significant work done on portions of the road, especially around the boundary shared by Ilaro and Ibese, we are deeply concerned about why the section along Ibese Road remains incomplete. This has created a bottleneck, leaving the road only partially usable and depriving Ibese residents of the full benefits of this critical project”, the statement partly read.

According to the group, the construction process stopped between Ibese and Ilaro, has caused a lot of ongoing boundary disputes between the communities and keeps on straining their relationship and hindering development in the two communities.

“The construction was notably halted between Ibese and Ilaro, and this abrupt stoppage has raised concerns among residents. Many believe that this is linked to the ongoing boundary disputes between Ibese and Ilaro communities. This situation has left a significant portion of the road in an unusable state, further straining the relationship between the two communities and hindering development in the region”.

On the challenges the abandonment of the road project causes the communities, the group said, “The abandonment of this project poses severe challenges, especially as we are in the rainy season. The road, being a vital economic artery, connects our community and supports businesses, agriculture, and transportation.

“Moreover, it serves as the only alternative route between Ibese and Ilaro, making its usability imperative for the daily activities and economic development of our region”,

The group, however made it known that the current state of the road has led to increased wear and tear on vehicles, accidents, and disruptions in the movement of goods and services.

Adding that, the fear of any upcoming rainy season will worsen the situation, making the road impassable and further isolating our communities.

“We have observed with concern that the delay in completing this project appears politically motivated, with the abandonment happening exactly where the boundary dispute exists. While we do not want to believe that such neglect is intentional, it is important to emphasize that Ibese and its people are integral parts of Ogun West, which falls under your esteemed representation”.

While urging Senator Adeola to revisit the road project and its completion within the region, the group also acknowledged his commitment to the development of theira constituency has been commendable.

“Your commitment to the development of our constituency has always been highly commendable, and we trust in your capacity to bring about a lasting solution.

“Completing this road will not only enhance economic activities but also significantly improve the quality of life for everyone in the region”, It added
