Extension Officers in Ogun State have been charged to redouble their efforts to complement the State Government’s drive to improve agricultural productivity and ensure food security.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, stated this during the 2025 Pre-Season Training for Extension Officers at the Training Hall, Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme, (OGADEP), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, themed: “Empowering Frontline Extension Officers for resilient and Sustainability Farming”, saying that the training was to further promote sustainable farming across the State.
He explained that the training was apt as it would promote agriculture extension services, improve agricultural productivity and enhance food security.
“I want to assure you that your welfare will be prioritised to enhance your effectiveness and make your job easier,” he said.
Owotomo noted that agricultural extension services were a critical requirement for the development and implementation of agricultural policies, saying the State government had determined to retrain its officers for improved performance and productivity.
In her contribution, Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, urged participants to reciprocate government gestures by being more committed, diligent and dedicated, adding that Extension Officers had a great role to play in re-orientating farmers on climatic change and best agricultural practices to better support them.
Responding, Acting Programme Coordinator, OGADEP, Mrs. Abiola Sobukola, thanked the State Government for the training, assuring that the Officers would make the best use judiciously to enhance their overall performance.
