Crescent University Law Undergrad Wins PSSG Essay Competition

Mujeebat Idris, an undergraduate of prestigious Bola Ajibola College of Law, Crescent University, Abeokuta has emerged in the first position of the Parliamentary System of Government Support Group (PSSG) National Essay Competition 2024.

She beat two other finalists, Henry Chukwura from University of Calabar and Nabila Sule, University of Ilorin to second and third positions respectively.

Mujeebat’s essay entitled “From Presidentialism to Parliamentarism : Examining Nigeria’s Quest for Better Governance “, was presented to a live audience of the Parliamentary System Support Group National Dialogue in Abuja.

Mujeebat’s essay, according to the planning committee, was praised as a very high quality leading the pack in a highly competitive contest.

The PSSG National Essay Competition was facilitated by
Hon. Rep. Kingsley Chinda, Hon. Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki and Hon. Rep. Wale Raji in conjunction with the House of Representatives to set agenda for a Homegrown Parliamentary System of Government in Nigeria.

In a telephone conversation, the vice chancellor, Crescent University, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, expressed his delight, describing the feat as “magnificent achievements”.

Thanking the Almighty Allah, the vice chancellor
said “Congratulations to you and all of us. More blessings, onwards and upwards.”

Also receiving the news while the programme was going on, Dean, Bola Ajibola College of Law, Prof. Momodu Kassim-Momodu, in a text message, to Mujeebat wrote “Congratulations to you Mujeebat. We are proud of you.The best is yet to come.”

Mujeebat Idris had won the Bronze of Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2021 and Brainbox, Bola Ajibola College of Law 2023.
