Over 50 farmers in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State have benefited from distributions of free fertiliser, facilitated by a member of House of Assembly member, representing Ijebu-Ode State Constituency, Hon. Omolola Bakare, in collaboration with All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), towards enhancing agricultural development and ensuring food security.
Speaking during the distribution at Ijebu-Ode, Hon. Bakare, who was represented by the Director, Administration for Hon. Bakare Omolola Campaign Group, Alhaji Sulaiman Olugbile, said the aim of the initiative was to support local farmers in improving soil quality for bountiful harvests and good profit, noting that lots of farmers were facing challenges in achieving the desired yield.
“This initiative was not only to empower the farmers but also to foster unity within the community, laying the groundwork for a more prosperous agricultural future”, she said.
On his part, President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Mr. Ademola Shite, represented by Hon. Jamiu Adebukanla, said the lawmaker’s gesture was apt, as it would help in boosting crop yields, enhancing quality and ultimately securing food supply for the state and the nation.
Contributing, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Mr. Dare Oyenuga lauded the donor for distributing the fertiliser to the farmers, to enable them effectively cultivate their land for good yield.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mr. Bode Ayanbugajo, Mr. Isiaka Ligali and Mrs. Temitope Abdul, appreciated the kind gesture of the lawmaker, saying the distribution was timely, as it would help in no small measure to increase their farm produce.
