Otun Asiwaju Ijebu Christians, Amb Bell Hosts CAN Leadership, Visits Area Command
The Otun Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians, Ambassador Raffy Bell has taken the bull by its horns in hosting the newly inaugurated executives of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ijebuland.
The meeting was held on Friday 27th September, 2024 in Ijebu Ode the headquarters of Ijebuland.
All CAN chairmen of the fifteen chapters that made up of Ijebuland were in attendance to brainstorm on the progress of the association as well as propagating evangelism of christainity in Ijebuland.
The CAN Ijebuland under the leadership of the State Liason Officer, Pastor Idowu Matthew acknowledged that all due procedures were observed in the nomination, approval and inauguration of Ambassador Raffy Bell as the Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland.
Further comments from CAN executives revealed that the Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland is a state office and it is a second position ranked to Asiwaju Onigbagbo in each of the four zones in Ogun State namely; Ijebu, Remo, Egba and Yewa land respectively.
CAN Ijebuland made request from Otun Asiwaju Ijebu Christians, Ambassador Bell for donation of a bus which would purposely serve for christ evangelism, while contribution towards the upliftment of the less privileged in the society, especially in the educational support programmes and alleviation of poverty were also not left out of the request.
Ambassador Bell in his remarks harped on unity and sincerity of purpose among CAN executives in particular, and by extension among the christian faithfuls in Ijebuland. He revealed his plan to organize a mega crusade in the coming year 2025 in Ijebuland, in which notable clergymen from international communities would be invited to grace the occasion.
He emphasized on the RAFFY BELL FOUNDATION established to handle the philanthropic programme he intended to embark upon in Ijebuland through the Office of Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland.
He maintained that RAFFY BELL FOUNDATION early this year sponsored free 2024 JAMB-UTME forms for fifteen youths across Ijebuland who were desirous to pursue their academic careers to higher institutions.
After conclusion of the inaugural meeting, CAN executive members alongside with Ambassador Bell proceeded to the Nigeria Police Force Area Command Office in Igbeba, Ijebu Ode for a courtesy visit to the police boss, Area Commander ACP Edward Omosanyin.
ACP Omosanyin expressed his pleasure in welcoming the team into his office, he later led the team to the building site of the Interdenominational Chapel under construction by CAN Ijebuland.
The Area Commander appealed to CAN to embark on propagating the gospel of Christianity to the men of Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the society by extension, so that the officers could be spiritually motivated and make them worship in the chapel. While the Police boss urged the CAN members to always come to the chapel for the monthly combined worship coming up on every last Friday of the month.
In the same vein, appeal and support towards the timely completion of the chapel was made by ACP Edward Omosanyin.
In a related development, Ambassador Raffy Bell promised to contribute towards the timely completion of the project while he later proceeded to plant a tree in front of the chapel to commemorate his official visit to the command and building project respectively.
