Ogun LG Election: APC To Flag-off Campaign Activities In Abeokuta North LGA For Oyegbola-Sodipo  

The All Progressives Congress (APC)  Campaign Council for  Abeokuta North Local Government in Ogun State will tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, formally flag-off ward-to-ward campaign activities for the party’s candidates participating in the November 16 local government election holding across the 20 council areas of the state. 

According to the campaign schedule signed by the Director-General/Chairperson of the APC Campaign Council for  the local government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi-Akintunde, the campaign would kick-off in Ward 2 in Ikija at 10am, while the campaign train would move to Ago Oko Junction in Ward 3 by noon, and to Iyana Idofin by Elega market in Ward 4 at 2pm, to complete the first day round.

On day two, Thursday,  October 24, the campaign activities would resume at Mokola Under Bridge for Ward 5 at 10am; move to Ita-Ojee in Ward 6 by noon, and Okedo Junction in Ward 7 by 2pm to round off the day. ANLG Primary School, Oke Ago Owu in Ward 10 would open the third day, Friday, October 25 at 10am, to be followed by Ward 9 with the campaign train berthing at Holy Trinity Primary School, Sabo at noon. Ward 8 would host the train at 2pm at Biobaku Abule Otun to complete the day.

The campaign train would observe a two-day break on Saturday, October 26 and  Sunday October 27 to be back on Monday, October 28 for day four at Ward 14, Motor Park, Imala by 10am. Same day,  the campaign moves to Baptist Primary School, Olorunda in Ward 13 at noon and wraps up the day.

Ward 15 will play host to the campaign train the next day Tuesday,  October 29,  at Market Square, Ilewo Orile, while Ward 16 will complete the day by receiving the team at the Open Space, Ibara at noon. Olomore Community Primary School, opposite NNPC filling station, will on Wednesday,  October 30 host the campaign team for Ward 12 at 10am, while Ward 11 will receive the team at NTA Junction at noon.

The week-long campaign activities would be rounded off in grand style at Idomapa Junction, Ikereku in Ward 1 at noon on Thursday, October 31.

Speaking on the importance of the exercise, the Director-General of  the campaign council, Alhaja Sarumi-Akintunde, said the ward-to-ward campaigns would enable the party and its candidates to have direct engagement with voters and foster a deeper understanding of the needs of people and communities at the grassroots.

“This grassroots approach to governance will allow our candidates to showcase their commitment to addressing community-specific issues, thereby building trust and credibility. The direct interaction with voters will also help our candidates to further have a better understanding of local priorities and tailor their solutions accordingly,” she stated.

Alhaja Sarumi-Akintunde, who is currently the chairperson of the APC in Abeokuta North LGA, added that the ward-to-ward campaigns were also aimed to empower local communities by sharing their real needs with the candidates, thereby helping them (candidates) to develop targeted solutions, ensuring that governance is tailored to the specific needs of each ward.

She expressed the confidence that the party and its candidates would emerge victoriius in the local government election,  while restating the party’s commitment to deliver good governance and transformative development in the local government.

“I use this medium to reaffirm that the incoming APC administration in Abeokuta North Local Government, will work in sync with the ‘Ise Ya’ developmental agenda of our leader, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Governor of Ogun State by prioritising infrastructure, education,  healthcare, and agriculture to drive economic growth and prosperity in the local government. By prioritising these key development triggers, our party reaffirms its pledge to serve the people and drive meaningful change at the local level,” she stressed.
