As parts of his activities lined up for a 3-day constituency tour to Ogun Waterside LG Area, the lawmaker representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA) Hon Lawal Samusideen had visited the Ibiade General Hospital.
The visit which came up on Monday 18th March,2024 was majorly for overall assessment of the general hospital and other medical institutions in the local government area.
The Ibiade General Hospital is a public hospital located at Tosho Street, Ibiade in Ogun Waterside LG in Ogun State.
It was established on 18th May, 1960 (almost 64 years ago) during the era of Western Regional government in Nigeria. It is one of the oldest general hospitals in Ogun State and South Western Nigeria in general..
Its purpose is mainly to cater for health related issues of residents of Ogun Waterside LG and its environs.
Over a long time, Ibiade General Hospital has suffered manpower shortage which has resorted the residents to seek other alternative by visiting the traditional medical birth attendants called “Ile alagbo” during the childbirth.
Hon Lawal on his inspection tour round the premises of the general hospital, frowned at the dilapidated nature of the buildings in the hospital and the shortage of manpower coupled with the insufficient medical equipment.
He promised to convey all the request of the hospital management to the appropriate quarters at the state level for urgent and speedy attention.
During the inspection tour, he paid all the medical bills of the patients present in the General Hospital Ibiade, and also prayed for their quick recovery.
Similarly, he urged the health workers to be diligent with their duty as their profession is essential for human existence.
Other health institutions visited in the local government area during the tour were Comprehensive Health Center Iwopin, Health Center in Oni.
In a related development, the lawmaker visited some public primary schools in the local government area where he doled out cash gifts of hundreds of thousands of naira to pupils who made Ogun Waterside LG proud in the just concluded Alare Sports Competition, while other notable individuals and organization received numerous cash awards.
However, the Executive Committee of NAPSGAST Ogun Waterside branch expressed their profound gratitude to the Assemblyman for his generosity while they also prayed for his successful tenure of office.
