As Nigerians joined their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s Christmas, a prominent Ijebu Christians leader, Ambassador Raffy Bell has enjoined Nigerians to radiate love towards one another and demonstrate the virtue of giving as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.
Amb Bell in a statement issued on Monday by the Media and Publicity Unit of Raffy Bell Foundation and made available to newsmen, noted that Christmas period is a unique one as it is always characterized by colorful celebration, music, festivity and communal interactions, stressed the need for Nigerians to internalize the lessons and understand the significance of the period which he identified as love, sacrifice and giving for the salvation of mankind.
The Christian leader, while making this first official statement after his installation and decoration as Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland, further called for sustenance of efforts from leaders at all levels, so that Nigerians will experience better days in the subsequent years.
Ambassador Bell, the founder of Raffy Bell Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation that was established as a platform to give back to the society in terms of helping the downtrodden and alleviating poverty in the society, further noted that the season provides a unique opportunity for Nigerians to commit their energies towards promotion of human dignity, development, tolerance and mutual respect.
The Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland expressed hope that through a significant phase in Nigeria, therefore, there is need to sustain sense of optimism, just as he called for the re-awakening of national consciousness.
He further enjoined Nigerians to place emphasis on issues that build up the nation, rather than ones that divide and causes disharmony
In the same vein, Pastor (Mrs) Kikelomo Bello, the Yeye Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebuland, however, challenged Nigerians to celebrate the season in the spirit of moderation and generosity to the benefit of the under priviledged.
