A 28 years old man, Adeyemi Babatunde, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for defiling his 5-year-old biological daughter.
The suspect, who was arrested in Ijebu Mushin area of Ogun State, according to the police, has confessed to the crime but claimed he didn’t know what came over him at that time.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a release, Thursday, said the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the mother of the victim at the Ijebu Mushin Divisional Police Headquarter.
The mother was said to have reported that she noticed the young girl was undergoing pains whenever she wants to urinate or when she touches her private part while bathing her.
The PPRO said after much pressure, the little girl confessed to her mother that her father had defiled her while the mother was not around.
The statement reads in part, “Operatives of Ogun state Police Command on the 22nd of May 2023, arrested a 28 years old man, Adeyemi Babatunde, for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 5 years old biological daughter.
“The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ijebu Mushin divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she noticed her daughter has been complaining of pain whenever she wants to urinate as well as whenever she is bathing for her and she touch her private part.
“Having noticed this, she pressurized the little girl to tell her what happened to her private part. It was then the victim informed her that her father laid her on the bed and inserted her manhood into her private part when the mother was not at home.”
Oyeyemi said the Ijebu Mushin Divisional Police Officer, CSP Simire Hillary detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and was arrested.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ijebu Mushin division, CSP Simire Hillary, quickly detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was eventually arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but claimed not to know what comes over him as at that time.”
The PPRO hinted that the State Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
