~ OMO'BA OGUNLANA A. ABAYOM
There are no Yoruba Christians. There are no Yoruba Muslims. There are no Yoruba Traditionalists. There is only Yoruba. Religion is something the Yoruba people practice - it is not who we are. Our identity predates Christianity. It predates Islam. It predates every imported belief system that arrived on our land through trade, conquest, or colonization. The Yoruba existed before the mosque. The Yoruba existed before the church. The Yoruba will only continue to exist if we remember that fact. The moment we begin to define ourselves first by Abrahamic labels instead of our shared language, ancestry, culture, and history, that is the moment Yorubaland begins to dissolve. Not by force. Not by invasion. But by self-erasure. Christianity and Islam are universal religions they are not ethnic identities. They did not build Ifẹ̀. They did not speak Yorùbá. They did not create our proverbs, our systems of governance, our art, our philosophy, or our worldview. Those things came from us. When religion becomes identity, unity collapses. When faith replaces culture, memory dies. When imported doctrines outrank indigenous belonging, a people fragment. This is not an attack on belief. Believe what you choose. Pray how you wish. But never confuse faith with nationhood. A Yoruba Muslim and a Yoruba Christian share more with each other than with any foreign co-religionist who does not speak their language, know their ancestors, or understand their land. Once we forget that, we become easy to divide. Easy to manipulate. Easy to rule. Easy to erase. Yorubaland will not disappear through war. It will disappear the day Yorubas stop seeing themselves as one people first. Culture before creed. Identity before ideology. Yoruba before everything else. That is survival.

“Prepared by Destiny, Chosen by Service, Dapo Abiodun Is Ready for the Senate” By Tayo Mabeweje  Leadership is often measured not by the heights one reaches but by the journeys one takes to get there. As Prince Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun, CON, once sought a seat in the Nigerian Senate, destiny charted a path that was larger than ambition itself. Instead of immediate gratification, he was entrusted with Ogun State—a stage where his leadership would not just be seen but felt in every street, town, and household. As John F. Kennedy once said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” Dapo Abiodun has embodied this truth, turning governance into a masterclass of vision, discipline, and results. Under his stewardship, Ogun State has become a living testament to what happens when foresight meets action: roads connecting communities, industries thriving, and opportunities multiplying for every citizen. To call him merely a governor would be like calling the sun “a light in the sky.” His tenure has been transformative, reshaping Ogun State into a beacon of progress and a model of destiny fulfilled. His leadership is a river that refuses to stagnate—constantly carving new paths, creating life where there was one limitation. Now, the Senate beckons, and Dapo Abiodun stands ready to scale the heights of national service with the same courage, wisdom, and determination. As Nelson Mandela wisely observed, “It always seems impossible until it is done.” The Senate is no longer a dream deferred—it is a stage primed for a leader who has already proven that impossible is simply a word for those unprepared. His experience as Governor equips him uniquely to translate vision into law, policy into progress, and ideas into impact. He is the bridge between executive precision and legislative purpose, bringing insight forged in the furnace of real governance to the deliberations that shape a nation. Dapo Abiodun’s story is a testament to the truth in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.” Ogun State has already tasted the fruits of his leadership. Now, Ogun East is ready, and when the 2027 elections arrive, Dapo Abiodun will be voted into the Red Chamber, carrying his vision, integrity, and results-driven leadership to the National Assembly. When destiny calls a man prepared by service, guided by purpose, and chosen for impact, greatness follows. Dapo Abiodun is that man. And Nigeria is ready. Ardo Says Push to Remove Tinubu Is About Saving Nigeria, Not Northern Agenda The Convener of the League of Northern Democrats and key promoter of the All-Democratic Alliance (ADA), Dr. Umar Ardo, has dismissed claims that calls to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are driven by regional interests, insisting that the agitation is rooted in concerns over Nigeria’s future. Speaking on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese-Ijebu, Ardo said growing opposition to the Tinubu administration reflects nationwide dissatisfaction with current economic and governance policies. “Removing President Tinubu isn’t a Northern agenda but a move to save Nigeria,” he said. Ardo criticised what he described as insensitive government reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, newly introduced tax policies, and the award of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road project. According to him, these policies have worsened the economic burden on citizens and raised serious questions about transparency and due process. He noted that Nigerians across all regions are feeling the impact and are demanding alternative approaches that prioritise welfare, accountability, and inclusive growth. He stated that the ADA, if given the mandate, would reverse some of the controversial reforms. “ADA will reverse the fuel subsidy removal and the newly implemented tax reforms,” Ardo said, adding that the party’s focus would be on easing economic pressure while promoting sustainable development. On the party’s registration process, Ardo explained that ADA’s move followed internal consultations and formal submissions. “I was asked to put in a memo on the issue, and when they read it, they agreed we should proceed with registration,” he said, noting that the group also explored the option of aligning with an existing political party while pursuing registration. He attributed delays in the registration process to changes within the electoral commission, arguing that circumstances, rather than procedure, stalled progress. “If Professor Mahmoud had remained until December 8, we would have completed the registration process,” he said, adding, “It was not about personality; it was about perspective and how the process was handled.” Ardo further alleged that the new leadership of the commission initially resisted registering new political parties. “He refused on the first day to register any party,” he claimed, stating that sustained public pressure later forced a shift. “It was after we applied pressure and criticised the commission that they quietly began to announce registrations,” he added. Expressing concern about Nigeria’s democratic process, Ardo criticised what he called inconsistencies in the electoral system. “Parties struggle to get registered, elections are conducted, and courts end up determining outcomes and issuing certificates,” he said. “This is not democracy; this is madness.” Ardo maintained that the political association ADA complied fully with constitutional and legal requirements. “We abided by every provision of the Constitution, the Electoral Act, and regulatory guidelines,” he said, noting that the matter is now before the courts. “We have put everything before the courts—every requirement of the law, the Constitution, and the guidelines.” He also rejected claims that ADA is a northern political platform, stressing its national character. “Every state in Nigeria was represented in the formation of ADA,” Ardo said. “It is wrong to describe it as a northern political party; it is a pan-Nigerian political platform.” On ADA’s chances in the 2027 general elections, Ardo said the outcome depends on the pace of judicial proceedings. “It depends on whether the court delivers judgment in good time; if it does, certainly we will be on the ballot,” he said. He also referenced provisions of the Electoral Act supporting the party’s position and commented on the ongoing amendment of the Electoral Act 2022 by the National Assembly. According to him, debates around electronic transmission of results have heightened the urgency of refo

SILENCE IS THE BEST ANSWER TO MERCENARY DETRACTORS But Be Careful, Touch Not God’s Anointed "The Lord says: Touch not My anointed, do My prophets no harm." (Psalm 105:15) When critics wage war of tongue, making uncouth words and sowing discord, God’s truth will prevail. For their job is character assassination, they manufacture lies with ease and swear in God's name to buttress their points. Let it be known that: "He that swears by heaven, swears by God’s throne." (Matthew 23:22) Don’t cloak deceit in holy garb, for "Lips that burn in a kiss is only learning to lie." If truth falters on your tongue, the righteous will keep silent because silence is golden. • Commissions Senatorial Secretariat In Ogun-East
A political group in Ogun State, Caucus 7202 (The Coalition), on Tuesday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election, Governor Dapo Abiodun for the Ogun East Senatorial seat, and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) for Governor of Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group, through its Director General, passed a vote of confidence on President Tinubu’s administration, insisting that the President deserves a second term in office based on his achievements. Speaking at the event, the Director General of Caucus 7202, Hon. Olaseni Koiki, said the endorsement was a result of the President’s laudable projects and …

“Prepared by Destiny, Chosen by Service, Dapo Abiodun Is Ready for the Senate”

By Tayo Mabeweje

Leadership is often measured not by the heights one reaches but by the journeys one takes to get there.
