2023: Oladunjoye Berates Adebutu, Says Governorship Ambition Already Moribund

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, has described the remarks credited to one of the governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ladi Adebutu, as “lamentations of a political forester “.

Oladunjoye in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday in reaction to attacks by Adebutu who had criticized the Dapo Abiodun-led Administration as “lacking in kindness and infrastructure”, said Adebutu “has not only lost touch with the reality, but also needs to up his game for him to be taken as a serious contender in the governorship race.”

“While Adebutu has the right to declare his moribund ambition for governorship, he should not have talked for talking sake. What we saw from his declaration was so belittling and below that of an aspirant for State House of Assembly seat. His handlers could have done better in packaging and polishing the man who claimed to have just returned from the forest”, Oladunjoye said.

Speaking further, Oladunjoye pointed out that “infrastructure is one key area that the Dapo Abiodun-led Government has been highly rated. Road construction works have either being completed or nearing completion in all the 20 LGAs in Ogun State. The dualised Sagamu-Iperu Road, with concrete drainage, passes through the front of Ladi Adebutu’s pig farm and his family house in Iperu, but he might not have noticed since he claimed to have been passing through the forest.”

“Is it the Ijebu Ode -Epe Express Way, the Atan-Agbara-Lusada Road, Muhammadu Buhari Way from Interchange to Abeokuta, or the housing projects of the current government that have been oversubscribed, or the Agro-Cargo Airport that is been rapidly constructed right at Adebutu’s backyard? Hon. Adebutu has either lost touch with the reality or was being mischievous or both”, the statement said.

Just last Friday, the Ogun State governor officially flagged off women empowerment scheme with disbursement of individual livelihood grants to 2,094 women across the state. 100,000 women will be captured in the scheme.

Prince DAPO Abiodun, at the ceremony, also signed the Executive Order aimed at providing a minimum required 35% representation for women in both government and politics while relaunching Oko’wo Dapo Scheme in collaboration with Nigeria For Women Project (NFWP) at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium.

“It is really unfortunate, if Hon. Adebutu is the best the PDP has to offer. He needs to be taken-in for proper tutelage and packaging for him to be a contender and not a pretender that he is presently”, Oladunjoye concluded.
