Group To Partner Ijebu East LG To Boost Technical Skill

The government of Ijebu East in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria, has set an agenda to partner a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) on skills acquisition programme.

This was disclosed on Friday by the executive chairman of Ijebu East LG, Hon Wale Adedayo, during the official commissioning of a free sewing training center at Igan-Ipabi in the local government area.

Igan Free Sewing Training Center is an initiative of Pastor Sunday Adebamiro, a Nigerian-Canadian philanthropist whose desires to contribute to his immediate community knows no bounds.

Wale Adedayo, in his speech thanked the initiator for deeming it fit to come back to Nigeria to establish such a laudable project that will help reduce poverty in Ijebu East LG and Ogun State by extension.

Speaking further, the council boss promised to create an enabling environment for any individual, companies or corporate organisation who has interest in developing the local government area.

“In the year 2005, I could remember vividly that I started this type of programme/initiative of sponsoring skills acquisition programme for youths of this local government area while I also equipped them with the necessary working tools. Free GCE/JAMB forms and tutorial programmes were also organised as well” , Adedayo affirmed.

“This administration is now ready to partner with the initiator of this program by sponsoring five participants each from all the eleven wards in Ijebu East. We will not only train them, we shall also provide them working tools after graduation”, the council boss added.

Hon Wale Adedayo further highlighted other progmmes of his administration that are already in the pipeline, such as training on bee production, vegetable production, fish farming and exportation to foreign countries as a means of revenue generation.

Oba Olowu of Owu-Ijebu, Alaiyeluwa Oba Engr Michael Adesina , FNSE who was the royal father of the day urged all other illustrious sons and daughters of Igan-Ipabi and Ijebu nation as a whole to come back home to invest and develop our territory, speaking further that government alone cannot provide all the necessary needs for the citizenry.

“Individuals, businessmen and corporate organisations also need to compliment government’s efforts on growing our economy”, the monarch concluded.

Solar street lights project initiated by Pastor Sunday Adebamiro was also commissioned by the royal father at the event.
