The youths in Community Development in Abeokuta North Local government area of Ogun State have hailed the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for automatic employment of some best graduating students into the state civil service .
They noted that, the automatic employment would encourage majority of them to be more focused in their academic pursuit and derail them from other social vices.
The President, Abeokuta North CDC youth, comrade Usman Ganiyu Olamilekan disclosed this at a workshop and sensitization programme held in Abeokuta on Thursday.
He noted that, the Community Development Committee in the state are ready to partner with the state government to provide succour to the downtrodden.
Usman maintained that, since 2014 Youth in Community was introduced into community organization, the group has assisted in self-help projects and mobilization of empowerment programmes to the communities.
According to him, in the last two years, the group has engaged public secondary school students in quiz and debate competition, skill acquisition programmes for the youths in the local government.
“We have over 440 youth representatives in Abeokuta North Zonal CDC, with over 3,000 members. I can say boldly today that communities are already feeling the youth impact through our various seminars, workshops, vocational trainings and empowerment programmes for the youths in our localities “.
“This programme of today which is the second edition of its kind focuses on strengthening the unity among the members, to encourage and give back to the youth and teenagers all the educational opportunities in our communities.
“It is also an opportunity to proclaim the awareness on importance of community participation. In view of these, football match competition was organised among the youths, quiz and debate competition for the public secondary schools in Abeokuta North Zone, all the participants have proof their worth and I say a big congratulations to all the winners in all categories. Free medical check up was also made a available for people in our communities”.
“I want to use this medium to specially thank His Excellency for the automatic employment given to our best graduating students from our Higher institutions in Ogun State, renovation of Public schools, his love for sport and other programs design for youth development in the state. We see and appreciate all that you do. God will continue to be your guide”.
He therefore, called on the youths to abstain from any criminal activities that may truncate their future, calling on the state government to engage the youths meaningfully through its empowerment programmes.
