Olajide Osoba, Abeokuta

The Labour Party (LP) , Ogun State chapter has asked the national chairman of the party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam to sack the embatttled chairman of the party, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, saying that the suspension is not enough than to sack him totally from the party.

They also accused him of engaging in anti-party activitie.

This was contained in a statement signed by the twenty-three members of the Party Executive and made available to journalists in Abeokuta.

”We are calling on the National Chairman of the party, Abudulkadir Abdulsallam to sack Arabambi from labour party”

During the last general election Arabambi involved in gross misconduct and flagrant abuse of the party’s constitution and he is a political dictator”

”They noted that the suspension of Arabambi became imperative to save the party from destruction in his hands

The letter read in part, “Sequel to what transpired before, during and after the just concluded national election, with our great party being one of the frontier of sustainable democracy, observations were made with respect to the noticeable misconducts of our party Chairman, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, who flagrantly disregarded the provisions of our party constitution, constituting himself as a political dictator, against the unanimous decisions of other stakeholders.

“That against the principle of all inclusive participation, it is regrettable to state that the party chairman, never at any point in time convene a meeting of the State Executive Committee or the State Working Committee in reaching decisions. All decisions taken during the electioneering period were solely that of our State Party leaders or constituted authorities within the party.

“That owing to the outcome of the last election, it is the concern of all stakeholders that our party chairman usurped the responsibility of our party’s financial officer, controlling all financial records without accounting for same.

“That our party chairman unilaterally presented names of individuals who eventually contested for various elective offices during the last election, without due consultation and ratification by relevant constituted party committees.

“Considering all these aforementioned allegations, members of the State Executive Committee of labour Party in Ogun State, hereby resolve and pass vote of no confidence on the provision of Article 17 of Labour Party Constitution (as amended), calls for the removal of our Party Chairman in the general interest of members of our great party.

But Arabambi in his reaction insisted that the members lack the power to suspend him from the party, saying “These people are nothing but impostors, they are not authentic members of the party, therefore they lack the power to suspend me from the party.”

Arabambi who described his suspension as an “illegality” and therefore cannot stand, stressing that he remain the Chairman of the party.
