Tragedy was averted, as community vigilantes of Igbeba community in Ijebu- Ode area of Ogun State has freed a young Man from the den of his kidnappers.
The 34-year-old simply identified as Okusanya Gabriel Imole, was reported to have been abandoned by his abductors after the intervention of the local vigilantes, following a tip-off by residents of the community.
The abducted guy findings revealed is the owner of IML Logistics Global Services in the area.
He was reportedly kidnapped by three gunmen along Erunwon road at bout 9:00 am on Monday, February 27, 2017, while he was trekking to his friend house billed to take him to work, and moved him away in a Nissan saloon Car.
The noise of the abducted young man was reported to have been heard from a nearby Mosque, and it took the intervention of the local vigilantes, who were alerted by residents of the community, who trooped out also to know the cause of the brouhaha.
Efforts by the joint force of the community and local vigilantes to arrest the kidnappes were futile, as they left without traces.
Confirming the incident, the Ijebu-Ode division of the Nigerian Police Force said they have commenced investigations to bring the culprits into book.
The abduction of Imole was reliably gathered by Ijebu News Xtra Magazine to have been allegedly ordered by his father-in-law following a face-off.
Okusanya Imole’s father-in-law is one of the revered Islamic fundamentalist in Ijebu-Ode, who is commited to the Islamic community.
The Islamic clerics known for his ni-nonsense stance on religious beliefs was believed to a strong politician in Ijebu axis alos connected to the corridors of power.
The father-in-law was reported to have gotten furious after getting to belief, tradition were trampled upon by his son-in-law.
The father-in-law (name withheld) was reported to have started his moves against the son-in-law, after he proposed to him to convert to Muslim.
Also, the father-in-law was reported to have proposed to give the granddaughter to the Okoya family to strengthen ties with his old time benefactor.
The abducted was said to have rejected being converted to a Muslim and vehemently resisted marrying off his daughter to the Okoya family as a means of strengthening ties.
The abductors were reported to have mentioned the name of thr father-in-law, while torturing him and trying to forcefully convert him into a Muslim.
In an interview with a close friend of the victim, he narrated the ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers was very terrifying as he also revealed that his friend abductors were “ Islamic Fundamentalist”.
He added further that the abduction must have been masterminded by someone close to the family.
He added that the abductors allegedly beat his friend up and inflicted injuries on his lips.
Investigation also has it that the victim has further been receiving death threats from unknown callers who hid their mobile lines to make such suspicious calls.
Meanwhile, the Baale of Igbeba community, Chief Kamorudeen in the press statement made available to the community newspaper and magazine journalists in Ijebu-Ode has appealed to the security agencies to fish out the culprits behind the dastardly act.
The community leader warned that the Council of Olorituns won’t hesitate t drag anyone found guilty of the offence to the court.
He also appealed to the Nigeria Police authority to unravel the mystery behind the abduction and also protect the family of the victim.
Efforts to reach the Ogun Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi as at the time of filing this report were futile, as he could not be reached for comment, and calls made to his mobile number was not answered
